On Sunday, 25 February, we went to the southern part of the island. We were joined by Oliver (who has more photographs from the trip on his page). It might have been just a change of weather, but the South seemed to be warmer, more humid and more green. |

Our first destination was the archaeological site Filitosa. (The next two pictures are almost the same, but the composition is better on the first one and the light on the second. I could not decide which one to leave out.) |

Going further south we stopped in Porticcio later. It was lunch time. The pizzeria close to the harbour was quite nice. My pizza was excellent and I think Oliver was content too. Christian was less lucky. The Pizza Quattro Formagi contained exactly four little pieces of cheese, neatly arranged. Well, pizza of four cheeses, I don't know what's so surprising... |

Some more pictures are still in my camera, so there are a few shots from Cargese yet to come. I have no photos from other events from the trip, however, such as when we had to hide in the megalithic dolmen, because of heavy rain, thus proving that it had been built as a shelter thousands of years ago. Or from the snow storm that hit us on our way back. |

And that reminds me of the last bus-travel story - Christian narrated it the following Monday: he had had to return the car to Ajaccio and he drove there early on Monday, so as he could catch the 7:20 bus back. The car rental agency was close to the airport, so after returning the car he needed to take a bus downtown, to the main bus station. Spotting the bus driver leaving his bus and going to the airport building, he stopped him and asked when he was going to leave. 'In one hour,' was the reply. (It was 6:45 or so.) Taking the bus schedule out of his bag, Christian pointed out that the bus was due to leave in five minutes. The driver studied the schedule carefully, shaking his head in disbelief (I'd say that explains quite a lot about local bus transport) and conceded that he might leave in 10 minutes, if this is the case. The moral is, of course, always carry a bus schedule with you... |
